Mother Teresa’s Simple Path:
The fruit of Silence is
Prayer;
The fruit of Prayer is
Faith;
The fruit of Faith is
Love;
The fruit of Love is
Service;
The fruit of Service is
Peace.
Here’s a simple test to see if you pass the First and Greatest Commandment:
Love the Lord your God with all of your Heart and with all of your Soul, and with all of your mind.
“Take time to do Charity, it is the key to Heaven.” Mother Teresa
How much love is in your heart? Do you help others, or is there little time for that? This might put things into perspective – God’s perspective. How does God see you? Will He say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”?
This is where so many of my Protestant friends excel. A good friend of mine (and his wife) from the Pentecostal Holiness church are constantly helping others through their church and Family Promise. They do this out of Love with no need of anything in return. They know who Jesus is and show us God’s Divine Love in the work they do for the Kingdom. It has nothing to do with “being saved by works”; their works simply show where their Heart is. If you do nothing for Jesus, than you have no interest in him other than self serving love to get into Heaven – “Lord, take me into Heaven, but let me live my life my way.”
“Not all who cry out “Lord, Lord” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 7:21
The Simple Path starts with Silence. We cannot hear the quiet voice of God if we are never silent. Find time to sit still and listen to God. This may be difficult in a big city like New York where there is so much noise, but sometimes background noise can help us focus. Focus on a picture of Jesus, or a cross, or a Crucifix. I have a fish pond which does nicely; but then, my simple path is not in a big city.
