The Beauty of the Protestant Faith and the Beauty of the Catholic Faith:
Christ longs for Unity… perhaps we are more unified than we think! If you looked at the Common Faith declaration, you may notice that Catholics agree with the major points of Protestant believers! The difference is that Protestants don’t believe in all of the Catholic tenets of Faith. They may not like our high regard for Mary, Mother of God, the Saints, Purgatory, etc…
But is that a bad thing? The Catholic Faith is HUGE – and we Catholics have to accept all of it. It would take a beginner quite a while to learn it all. The Catholic Catechism covers the entire Bible plus tradition passed down from the early Church Fathers. Picture, if you will, a time long ago, maybe the 1500’s when humans were crossing oceans and exploring new lands, or when American pioneers made their way West. How hard would it be to access a Catholic Mass? But you could bring a Bible…
At this day and age, we should be able to bring Christian Faiths together. The Catholic Faith offers so much… but so do our Protestant Brothers! There’s so much we could learn together.
